American Idol Who Sings Glorious:

eras tour surprise song
If you've been a fan of Taylor for a while, you'll know that she always includes a surprise song or two in her tour set lists.  For this American Idol who sings glorious, the tradition goes all the way back to the World Tour, where she included the surprise covers she performed during that era.

In Stockholm, Sweden (May 19), the eras tour surprise song was "Message in a bottle"

It seems to me that in this song, we encounter a great enigma, namely what kind of bottle is being referred to. One full that we drink together and at the end discover a message, or an empty one into which we push a small scroll of paper on which we write a love poem or a cry for help.

Naturally, each option comes with a different mystery. In the first case, what is the beverage that fosters communion and deciphering messages, and in the second, what is the ocean or sea that separates us or on which we each wander separately?

It occurs to me that we allow ourselves to imagine only such messages as we need to survive.

If at some point London is brought into discussion, I would tie the subject to the Black Dog bar. Besides the fact that both occurrences seem to develop in the same city, it appears that in each song, there's talk of a message someone is waiting for or doesn't know they should seek.

“Why do so many people start their messages with, "It's me"? Of course it is you. We all know that. But who the hell ARE you?” This is the mission of eras tour surprise song to reveal us.

But the singer conforms to trends and confesses according to the template:

"I know that you like me
And it's kinda frightenin'
Standing here waitin', waitin'
And I became hypnotized
By freckles and bright eyes
Tongue tied"

Follows the location so we know exactly where we are transported by the eras tour surprise song:

"But now
You're so far away and I'm down
Feelin' like a face in the crowd
I'm reachin' for you, terrified"

And then why resort to this means of communication, namely the message in a bottle:

"'Cause you could be the one that I love
I could be the one that you dream of
Message in a bottle is all I can do
Standin' here, hopin' it gets to you (it gets to you)"

The conclusion of American Idol who sings glorious, is that a disaster awaits us:

"These days I'm restless
Work days are endless
Look how you've made me, made me
But time moves faster
Replaying your laughter
Disaster"

Even with all our technology and the inventions that make modern life so much easier than it once was, it takes just one big natural disaster to wipe all that away and remind us that, here on Earth, we're still at the mercy of nature.
